Thomas J. Massar “Tommy”, 41, of Dunkirk, died unexpectedly Saturday (April 9, 2022) at home.

He was born Jan. 3, 1981, in Dunkirk, the son of Thomas G. and Anne (Wisniewski) Massar.

A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Tommy attended Dunkirk High School and Jamestown Community College. He was currently employed at Nestle Purina in Dunkirk.

Besides his parents, he is survived by one sister, Jennifer (Christopher) Hahn of Hamburg; one brother, Joseph Massar of Dunkirk; his step-grandmother, Dolores Massar of Phelan, Calif. He was the loving uncle of his niece, Anna Banks; and three nephews: Jackson Massar and Benjamin and Frankie Hahn. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Tommy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Leo and Helen Wisniewski; and paternal grandparents, Thomas J. Massar and Julia Massar.

Tommy was an avid sports enthusiast. He was a true fan of the Atlanta Braves, Buffalo Bills and any team that LeBron James played for. He played on many Little League all-star teams himself and had an undying love for Jordan and the game of basketball.

When Tom wasn’t at work you could catch him hanging on the beach with his family and friends, always listening to music and creating his own beats, and you could always call him for a fresh fade on the back porch.

He cherished his days growing up on Park Avenue and Deer Street, where he made many of his best friends that have lasted a lifetime.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, April 16, from 1-4 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be held immediately after the calling hours at 4 p.m. Deacon Michael C. Lemieux will officiate.
