Stephanie A. Pulvino

Stephanie A. Pulvino, 57, of Dunkirk NY died suddenly Thursday Oct. 5th, 2023 after a fall in her home. Born July 20th, l966 she was the daughter of the late Roy D. Sr.( Sept. 26, 2023) and Jean M (Depasquale) (Jan. 1, 2023).

Stephanie was a loving soul who had many friends near and far. Family meant everything to her, she was vivacious, beautiful, and very talented. In her school years, she played Dorothy in the “Wizard of Oz” and later was the Senior Homecoming Queen. She was a top-notch golfer who could hit the ball better than the boys, a gift she learned from her father. She loved music and spending time with her close friends. Steph was a loyal Buffalo Bills fan, she sat through many seasons in the rain, snow, and even the worst blizzard on record- screaming till she had no voice. She loved to cook and create new recipes with her Mom and had a fierce love of animals, in particular, her cat Cashmere who she took in as a stray won Stephanie’s heart. Stephanie dedicated the last few years to taking care of her elderly parents.

Most of Stephanie’s life was spent in Dunkirk but she also lived in Germany, Arizona, and California. She was very active in the community that she was so proud of including Volunteer Firefighter, Researcher/Archivist for the Historical Society of Dunkirk, and Dunkirk Chamber of Commerce where she was President and came up with “Grape Expectations” that later became “Hops & Pops”, but her biggest accomplishment was the creation of the Van Miller Golf Tournament & Scholarship Fund which she was the brainchild for. She assembled a few close friends, the Miller family, Buffalo Bills Alumni Assn., and her then employer Lakeshore Savings Bank, where she specialized in Marketing, to create an event that endures today.. She was the driving force that has grown over the years and now presents 2 scholarships to DHS students (Van Miller’s Hometown Hero Award) through the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, this year we gave out 2- $ 8,000 scholarships through those efforts.

She is survived by her brothers Roy D. Jr. (Diloylo) of Mesa, AZ & David M. Pulvino of Dunkirk, Aunt Betty Jane Costello, her dear cousins, and adopted nieces. She will be sadly missed by her many friends in particular Sally Graves, Tracey Port, and Ellen Luczkowiak who gave her great support over the years.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Jeffrey Mark Pulvino.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Friday, October 13 at the Clarion Hotel from 2-6 pm, all those who wish to celebrate the lives of Roy Sr., Jean, and Stephanie are welcome.

Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
