Sarah “Sally” B. Valone

Sarah “Sally” B. Valone (Warren Harris) died surrounded by family on Dec. 22, 2023 at the Star Hospice House in Lakewood, NY.

She was born in Bradford, PA to Samuel and Tillie (Barbuto) Valone.

A graduate of Dunkirk High School, Sally went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps from 1955-1957, where she reached the rank of corporal and was honorably discharged. Later in life, she volunteered at the Boys & Girls Club, Community Christmas, and Growing Together and was a member of the Frank Acquavia Post #1344.

By her family, Sally was known most for her imagination and sense of humor, always appreciating a good joke or outlandish story in return. Her sense of humor earned her the title of “Grandma Silly” by her grandchildren.

When asked what she was most proud of in her life she said, “Raising a family, living through many challenges, and never losing her faith.” She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Dunkirk, NY.

Sally is survived by her children, Pamela (the late Paul) Flint-Strom; Larry (Fran) Flint; Karen (Dean) Houser; Linda (the late Chris) Haggerty; Renae (Kevin) Arcoraci. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Derek and Alyson Houser; Jordan and Rachel Flint; Sarah (Cece) Haggerty-Roche, Bradley, Scott, Quintin and Ryan Haggerty; Krista and Kayla Strom; Benjamin, Veronica, and Joseph Arcoraci. Sally is also survived by her sisters Rosetta Pietryk and Delores (Gil) Melendez, her beloved son-in-law Robert Cleary, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Tillie Valone, her brother William Valone, husbands Ronald Warren and Robert Harris, her daughter Katherine Cleary, infant daughter Laura Flint, and granddaughter Scotti Haggerty.

Per her wishes, no visitation will be observed. Family and friends are welcome to join for the mass of Christian burial on Dec. 29, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Dunkirk. Arrangements are by McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to The Star Hospice House.
