Rosemary (Scott) Miller, 94, passed away Friday morning October 25, 2024 at The Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family.

Rosemary was born on April 4, 1930 in Monessen, PA, the only child of Dr. Charles P. and Florence M. (Wilson) Scott. Raised in the Pittsburgh, PA community of Ingomar, she attended Ingomar Elementary School, West View High School, and then graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. in Music Education. She played cello in the Penn State University symphony orchestra. Later, she obtained her NY State Teaching certification from Suny Fredonia. 

Rosemary was the beloved wife of Thomas Edward Miller and Loving mother of eight children, Marybeth(Karen) Miller, Arthur (Suzie) Miller, Michael Miller, Paul (Darleen) Miller, James (Caroline)Miller, Robert (Annaleigh) Miller, David (Susan)Miller, Carol (Jeff) Wright. Proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren whom she loved very much, Michael, Sarah, Katelyn, Cullen, Alex, Thomas, Nadia, Paul, Natasha, Rose, Ryan, Patrick, Connor, Benjamin and Grace along with5 great grandchildren, Reegan, Everly, Scarlett, Ryder and Maverick.

Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Florence and her husband Thomas E. Miller and son, Michael Miller.

Rosemary’s passion for music carried on throughout her adulthood including singing with the St. Alexis R.C. Church choir and the Pittsburgh Concert Chorale for 13 years. Rosemary and Thomas moved to Fredonia, NY in 1972 where she continued to sing in the Festival Chorus. Rosemary was active in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Newman Center at SUNY Fredonia. Rosemary worked for many years in the gift department at Sidey’s department store, was a brownie leader, avid golfer and tennis player and could be seen cheering her children on at their many sporting activities. Rosemary was a voracious reader and Civil War history enthusiast and was always found with a book in her hand. 

Rosemary’s love of music continued at Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab Center where you would see her at all the music events and with the music therapist singing all her favorite songs. Everyone she encountered always commented on her beautiful smile. She loved spending time with family and friends. Rosemary’s family would like to thank the many caregivers at Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab Center that showed so much compassion and love to her especially Melissa Meyer, Monica Mcnair, Alicia Fedrick and Tom Deering and many others. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 1032 Central Avenue Dunkirk, NY. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Fredonia College Foundation, Music Therapy, 272 Central Avenue, Fredonia, NY 14063.
