Peter E. Cash

He was born August 16, 1932, in Dunkirk, New York to the late Charles and Theresa (Verillo) Cash.

Peter was a veteran who served in the Navy and Navy Reserve during the Korean conflict. He left school to serve his country and later received his diploma through Fredonia High School and Operation Recognition-a program established for veterans who did not graduate due to military service.

Peter also served in the National Guard, where he completed Civil Defense Radiological Service training as a Staff SGT on March 17, 1970, and March 19, 1972.

Peter worked for the former Allegheny Ludlum Steel Plant for 43 1/3 years. Upon retirement, he completed an inservice training course for Pinkerton and Securitis and returned to guard the premises where he once worked. On September 20, 2001, Peter was recognized by his employer for returning a wallet containing a large sum of money that he found while on duty.

His pastw memberships include American Legion Post 59, Sinclairville Fire Department, Amvets 434, and life member of the Southwestern Association of Volunteer Firemen of NYS. (August 5, 1987).

He is survived by his daughter and caregiver Dawn Wood of Fredonia, daughter Linda Cash of Angelica and daughter Carol (Don) Rossler of Colorado. He is also survived by grandchildren Olivia Wood, Zachary (Kaitlynd) Cash, Thomas Cash and Kirk Rossler. Nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and great- great-grandchildren also survive.

Besides his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his twin brother, Paul Cash, sister Delores Bolling, granddaughter Terri Robbins and the Wood twins.

Friends may call at McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home, 736 Central Avenue, Dunkirk on Thursday, December 29 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022, at 11am, where he will receive full military honors. Interment is in Portland Evergreen Cemetery.
