Patrick Richard Deering

Patrick Richard Deering, 69, of Dunkirk died Wednesday morning (March 29, 2023) at home following a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 14, 1953 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Richard and Louella (Platt) Deering.

A lifelong resident of the area, Patrick was a graduate of Fredonia High School, class of 1971 and continued his education at Alfred State College in the Auto-Mechanics program, class of 1973. Patrick was the owner and dedicated craftsmen of P.D. Construction in Dunkirk, New York.

He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dunkirk, Sons of the American Legion Post 62, Dunkirk Elks Lodge 922, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, and the Chautauqua County Corvette Club.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbi (Baumgartner) Deering, whom he married June 11, 1981; two sons, Chad Freitas of Cincinnati, OH and Devin (Brandy) Freitas of Dunkirk; one sister, Deborah (John) Kotar of Cassadaga; four grandchildren, Dahlton Freitas, Makenzie Grubb, Ashton Freitas, and Kiptyn Freitas; three great-grandchildren, Koby, Ella, and Lilly; one niece, Lisa; one nephew, David.

Patrick was a life-time avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. Patrick’s love for motorcycles and sports cars lasted his whole life with his last being his favorite, the grey goose Corvette. Patrick enjoyed line dancing for twenty-two years and other social events. Patrick’s favorite times were spent spending it with family and friends.

Patrick will be sadly missed by his wife “Berta.”

A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning, April 4, at 11 o’clock in the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Pastor Zoe Milliman will officiate. Calling hours will be held Monday, April 3, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Willowbrook Park Cemetery.
