Noelia Salgado

Noelia (nee DeJesus) Salgado, 75, transitioned peacefully on June 30, 2023 after a lengthy illness surrounded by her loving family. “Noel”, as she was affectionately known by many, was born on July 30, 1947, to the late Julia (nee Torres) and Victor DeJesus. She was the eldest of nine children born to their martial union.

Born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, Noelia lived most of her life in Dunkirk, NY. She will be remembered by her 32 years of service working at Brooks Memorial Hospital in the Dietary Department. Noelia was a kind and loving person and will be missed greatly.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 55 years, Feliciano Salgado Sr. and their four children; Ilda (Chris) Enoch of Fleming Island, Florida; Dr. Feliciano (Cindy) Salgado, Jr.; Olga (Michael) Salgado/Green of Dunkirk, NY; and Ana (Edgar) Garcia of Locust Grove, Georgia. Other than her husband and children, Noelia leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, three brothers, four sisters, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Julia and Victor DeJesus, and brother, Samuel DeJesus.

Calling hours will be held at McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home in Dunkirk on July 5, 2023 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on July 6, 2023 at 10AM. Pastor Ericka Lopez will officiate. Noelia will be buried at Holy Trinity Cemetery following the service. A reception will be held at the American Legion on Central Avenue in Dunkirk immediately following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorials be made to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750 or to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, New York, 10016-5337 (donations@kidney.org).
