Nicholas “Nick” E. Strauser, 38, of Fredonia, NY, passed away on Oct. 6, 2022, at Strong Memorial in Rochester, NY. He was born in Dunkirk, the son of Beverly A. (Rutkowski) and Edward B. Strauser. Nick graduated from Richmond Hill High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree and teaching certificate from Armstrong Atlantic State University, Savannah, GA.
He taught elementary/middle school abroad at Kiev International School in Ukraine as well as in southeast Georgia. His most rewarding was teaching kindergarten /special education where he used his pets, Legos, and other real-life examples to engage students in learning. Nick enjoyed traveling with his family and friends across the US and abroad. He frequented the Barker Darwin R. Library because he had a passion for reading.
Nick will be remembered for his genuine kindness, thoughtfulness, and love of nature. Nick spent summers in WNY for many years and recently returned to Fredonia where he reconnected with friends and family. He will be sadly missed by those near and far.
Besides his mother Bev and brother Tom, he is survived by his uncle Mike Rutkowski (Debbie Cook), great aunt Bean Starwalt, uncle Jeff Strauser (Sally),aunt Cyndi Sheedy (Jack), and Bob Bates, a very special friend, Also survived by cousins and friends around the world. He was predeceased by his beloved dad, Ed Strauser and his beloved brother, Doug Strauser.
He was also predeceased by his maternal grandparents Agnes (Nana) and Henry Rutkowski and paternal grandparents, Lucille and Fritz Strauser.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Fredonia Presbyterian Church, 219 Central Ave., Fredonia, NY at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Darwin R. Barker Library in Memory of Nick.
