Marilyn Rose (Goodrich) Vogt

Marilyn Rose (Goodrich) Vogt, formerly of 140 Newton St., Fredonia, New York passed away peacefully on Feb. 7, 2023 at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she had been a resident for the past five years. Marilyn, having just celebrated her 90th birthday, was the devoted wife of the late Rollin Whipple Vogt Jr. and the loving mother of four children: Joyce Y. Klawon (Raymond) of Evansville, Indiana; Robert L. Vogt (Kathleen) of Cincinnati, Ohio; Carolyn S. Town (Michael) of Erie, Pennsylvania; and Bonnie J. Bromsted (Daniel) of Dunkirk, New York. She will be deeply missed by all her knew her.

Marilyn was born on Jan. 17, 1933 in Dunkirk, New York the only child of the late Arthur L. Goodrich of Fredonia. She attended Fredonia High School, and was employed at G.C. Murphy Co. for many years. She was then appointed as the Office Manager for the dental practices of Dr. John Ingham, followed by Dr. Michael Kozlowski, and retired from that office in the mid-90’s. Marilyn was a long time member of The First Christian Church in Dunkirk, and enjoyed playing cards with her card club, music, singing, camping, traveling, cooking, and caring for her family.

In addition to her four surviving children and their spouses, Marilyn is also survived by grandchildren Nathan Davis (Sandra) of Evansville, Indiana; Jennifer Town of Columbus, Ohio; Kristin Patterson (John) of Cincinnati, Ohio; Kenneth Town of Pittsburgh; Ryan Vogt (Meagan) of Landenberg, Pennsylvania; and Elizabeth Tornow (Daniel) of North Collins, New York, as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Kyle and Cora Davis, and Norah Ann Patterson. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Marilyn Chambers of Virginia and Donna Daughenbaugh of North Carolina, her special cousin Ruth Dean of Fredonia, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their care of Marilyn during the last several years. There will be no calling hours as per the family’s wishes, but a Celebration of Life for relatives and friends will be held in the near future.
