Loretta V. (Krzakala) Nikitas, 92, passed away peacefully at her home on December 8, 2023, surrounded by her family.
A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, Loretta was born on February 19, 1931 and dedicated her life to various roles.
She was employed at the former Van Raalte, was a homemaker, she worked as a lunch lady at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School, a server for a local caterer, and a daycare provider. She enjoyed spending time with her four children, daughter in-law, three sons in-law, 12 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Throughout the years, Loretta, was an expert card player who enjoyed local card parties, was a member of several poker groups, played pinochle at the Dom Polski Club, and played “Scat” with her family. She loved her rose bushes that usually bloomed well into winter and would happily share a cutting from one of her many houseplants.
Loretta was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Milton S. Nikitas, and now is reunited with him and her four brothers and five sisters in eternal rest.
She is survived by her son, Steven (Janice) Nikitas, and her daughters Kathy (Patrick) Stoyle, Janet (Paul) Jelonek, and Sharon (Kirk) Corsi. Loretta leaves behind a legacy through her grandchildren: Derek (Caroline) Nikitas, Steven Nikitas, Lindsay (Steve) Macky, Kelly (Jake) Porpiglia, Holly Stoyle, Cody Stoyle, Matthew Jelonek, Leanne Jelonek, Daniel Jelonek, Sara (Ed) Staley, Rita Corsi, Michael Corsi and 13 great – grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 11th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McGraw -Kowal Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church on Tuesday, December 12th at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 W Fairmont Ave., Lakewood, NY 14750, or the CBA Vision Rehabilitation Services, 510 W. Fifth St. Jamestown, NY 14701.
