Loretta M. Hemink

A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Loretta was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, class of 1960. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, VFW 8647 Auxiliary, and the Moose Club Lodge 98. She was employed for several years at Mayville Central School but mostly was an amazing wife, mom and homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Terry D. Hemink, whom she married Jan. 20, 1968; three daughters, Shelly Schrader of Fredonia, Lynda (Samuel) Bright of South Carolina, and Stacie Hemink of Dunkirk; one son, Leonard (Valerie) Hemink of Rochester; brother, Arthur (Mary Jane) Palmatier of California; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren as well as loving nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Hemink; and two sisters, Ann Palmatier and Karen Blankenship.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no prior visitation. Burial will be in Westfield Union Cemetery. Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made at Dunkirk Humane Society.
