Lizzie M. Postell

She was born April 6, 1936 in Marshallville, Ga., the daughter of the late Robert and Hattie Hooten.

Lizzie was a long term resident of Dunkirk, since 1956. Mrs. Postell was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where she served as ‘Mother of the Church”, until her illness.

Lizzie enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching Life-time movies. But most of all, she enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her two sons: Walter L. Postell, Jr. and James J. (Marilyn) Postell, both of Dunkirk; three daughters, Mildred (Jayffers) Johnson of Erie, Pa., Joan (Leon) Schrantz of Dunkirk, and Diane (Esmond) Colvin of Ashtabula, Ohio; and one sister, Estella Marshall of Dunkirk; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Walter L. Postal Sr.; her infant daughter, Diane Postell; five brothers: Forest, Jimmy, Hamp, Robert Lee, and Lonny (Emma) Hooten; four sisters, Martha, Hattie, Frankie and Mary (Jimmy) Hooten.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022, at noon in Friendship Baptist Church, 18 E. Second St., Dunkirk, N.Y. Pastor Early G. Waller will officiate. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Sheridan, following after will be the after pass dinner at the Columbus Club in Dunkirk.
