Joan A. Haas

Joan A. (Hennessey) Haas, 87, of Fredonia, passed away Friday morning, April 4, 2025 at UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA. Born in Dunkirk on June 24, 1937, wife of the late Donald W. Haas and daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Hinckley) Hennessey.

Joan graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1955. On August, 16, 1958, she married Married Donald Walter Haas at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Dunkirk. She was an active member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church, serving as Financial Secretary for over 25 years.

In addition to her husband and parents, Joan is preceded by a sister Virginia DeCeilio and an infant brother John.

Surviving Joan include her children Stephen (Mary) Haas, Patricia Crooks, Sandra (Frank) Halgash, and Kevin Haas. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Rachel (Andy) Griffey and great-granddaughters Bella and Ruby of Lakeview, NY, Brittany Crooks of Bogota, NJ, Alex (Caitlin) Haas, great-grandson Theodore and great granddaughter Edith of Chattanooga, TN, Zachary Haas of Brocton, NY, Trevor, Tanner, Colton and great granddaughter Mae Haas of Wilimington, NC, Brandon Crooks of Randolph, NY. Also survived by a sister-in-law Shirley Haas of Rochester, NY and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials in Joan's memory may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 334 Temple Street, Fredonia, NY.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church; 334 Temple Street, Fredonia, NY. There will be no prior visitation. Interment in Willowbrook Park Cemetery. Arrangements by McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home; 736 Central Avenue, Dunkirk, NY.
