Gail A. (Keopke) Kolassa,67, of Fredonia, passed away Monday morning, August 26, 2024 at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab Center. Born in Dunkirk on December 16, 1956, wife of the late Thomas Kolassa Sr. and daughter of the late Ronald and Rita (Becker) Keopke.
A graduate from Dunkirk High School, Gail furthered her passion for cooking by attending BOCES Culinary School.
For eighteen dedicated years, Gail worked as a cook at the Fredonia Place, where her talents shone bright. Known for her exceptional dishes, particularly her renowned chili, she brought warmth and comfort not only through her food but through her joyful spirit. Gail was a fun-loving person, who always found delight in the simplest of pleasures and cherished her family above all.
In her free time, Gail found joy in gardening and she embraced country living by raising goats and chickens. An avid bird watcher, Gail took great pleasure in observing the wildlife around her, often finding peace in nature's wonders. Additionally, she was a devoted Buffalo Bills and a NASCAR fan.
Gail’s festive spirit was evident in her love for decorating during the Christmas season, where her creativity transformed her home into a winter wonderland. She was also known for hosting delightful picnics, creating cherished memories with friends and family in her backyard.
Memberships include the Kosciusko Club.
Survivors include her son Jonathan (Jennifer) Kolassa; step-son Thomas Kolassa Jr. and Daniel Kolassa. Grandchildren Keegan, Jake, Thomas III, Kimberly, Nicole, Brody and Bryson. Sisters Kathie Dolce and Julie Nolan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Gail include her husband of 22 years, Thomas Kolassa Sr., parents Ronald and Rita (Becker) Keopke, step-son Christopher Kolassa and an infant sister Pamela.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
