Ernestine “Linda” Harris, 68, fell asleep in death on December 14, 2022. She was born November 26, 1954, in Dunkirk, NY. The daughter of the late Ann Mae Harris.
Linda always had two homes. Here in Dunkirk, New York and Okolona, Mississippi. Between the two places she developed longlasting relationships and a deep bond between family.
Linda enjoyed sharing memories of growing up with cousins, aunts and uncles. She had fond memories of traveling and shopping with her mother. Her interests were shopping, walking, playing bingo, spending time with family & cooking. She was never shy about meeting and socializing with people. Anyone who met her, never forgot her.
Later in life she took pride in becoming a certified foster parent for NYS. She always had a love & soft spot for children. Linda once stated “As a foster parent I will love, nourish, provide for and feed the children. As well as be responsible for the children’s wellbeing, their education & religious guidance.” Linda attended Friendship Baptist Church. She had a deep love for God, His Word the Bible & found enjoyment in studying it.
Her sense of humor, feistiness, and her love will be missed by all who knew her.
Linda is survived by her only child and son, William “Pooch” Harris of Dunkirk. One brother, Lucian (Charlotte) Buchanan of Dunkirk. grandchildren, Lesley Shianne (Justin) Morgan of West Seneca NY, Jayden and Ahmya Harris of Dunkirk & Hazel Mettler. Great granddaughter, Oasis Morgan and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Close friends Marsha Dixon of Buffalo NY and Derene Evans of Dunkirk, NY.
Besides her beloved mother Ann Mae Harris and her father, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Harris, Albert Harris, and Thomas “Tommy” Harris. One sister, Mary Ann Moreland-Harris.
No services will be held at Linda’s request but calling hours will be held at McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home at 736 Central Ave in Dunkirk on Friday, Dec 30th, 2022, from 4-7pm.
Revelation 21:4: “And He (God) will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things will pass away.”
Until that day, Linda will be deeply missed.
