Edward J. Kornprobst Jr., 66, of Dunkirk died Thursday afternoon (April 20, 2023) at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo with his family at his side.
He was born April 27, 1956 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Edward J. and Lucille (Babcock) Kornprobst.
A lifelong resident of the area, Edward was a graduate of Cardinal Mindszenty High School, Class of 1976. He had been employed at Fieldbrook Farms in Dunkirk for more than 20 years. Edward was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. He was also a long time member of the Moniuszko Club. He was an avid sports fan especially the Buffalo Bills, Sabres and NY Yankees.
Survivors include one sister, Shirley (Peter) Szymanowicz of Fredonia; and one brother, David Barber of Indiana. He is also survived by one uncle, Robert (Patricia) Babcock; one aunt, Beatrice Maguire; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Wayne Barber; and one nephew, Randy Barber.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, April 25, from 4-7 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, April 26, at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Burial will be in Willowbrook Park Cemetery. The family suggests memorials can be made to the Angel Campaign at Northern Chautauqua Catholic School, 336 Washington, Ave., Dunkirk, NY 14048.
