Donald W. Waite

Donald W. Waite, 83, son of the late Lloyd and Eleanor (Smith) Waite departed this world

peacefully on January 10, 2025, at The Chautauqua Rehab and Nursing Facility with his

family by his side. He fought a courageous battle with cancer but lost the fight.

Don worked for the Borden Company in Phoenix,AZ for 6 years and upon returning to Dunkirk he 

worked for Dunkirk Ice Cream (Fieldbrook Foods) as Quality Control Manager until he retired on his 65th

birthday, August 4, 2006.

Don loved to hunt, fish and play golf. He was especially fond of his yearly trips to Black Lake, NY, for a week of 

fishing accompanied by his wife and other family members. He did make a hole in one at the Cassadaga Country

Club.

Don is survived by his wife Karen (Fredricks) Waite, whom he married 62 years ago, his two daughters Kristine (Jim Kluck)

Wojtkowiak, Cheryl (Rob) Rosplock, both of Dunkirk, son Steven (Namiki) Waite of Okinawa, Japan, his siblings Priscilla (Christopher) 

Penfold, James (Pamela) Waite, of Dunkirk, brother in law Jon Fredricks of East Aurora. He is also survived by his grandchildren

Alia (T.J.) Stock of Hebron. ME, Steven (Jade) Wells of Westfield, Michaela (Evan) Anstey of Middleport, NY, Nathan (Hailey Brown) 

Wojtkowiak of Elma, NY, Taryn Wojtkowiak of Dunkirk, Rayna Waite 

and Shayn D. Waite of Okinawa.

His pride and joy were his 6 greatgrandchildren Owen, Rory, Noah, and Charlie Elizabeth Stock, Noah Ray Waite, Ezra Anstey, and his

beloved and faithfull dog Zoey, and cats Fella and Neko. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. 

He is preceded in death in addition to his parents by a sister Betty Ann Gardnier, inlaws Frank and Martha Fredricks, son in law Allen Wojtkowiak.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call Friday, January 17th from 10 AM-12 Noon at the McGraw Kowal Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 12 Noon.

Private Inurnment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
