Diane M. Woloszyn

Diane M. Woloszyn, 60, of Dunkirk died Tuesday evening April 11, 2023 at the Erie County Medical a in Buffalo following a brief illness.

She was born July 1, 1962 in Silver Creek, the daughter of Daniel J. Woloszyn of Dunkirk and the late Josephine R. “Pina” (Bomasuto) Woloszyn.

A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Diane was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, class of 1980. She had been employed as a cook at the Fredonia State Faculty Student Association. Prior to that, she had worked for a brief time at Duff’s, her cousin’s Buffalo restaurant; and also for the Dunkirk Armory.

Diane was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church and a supporter of local animal rescues.

A devoted daughter, Diane often helped out her dad with online ordering. She always enjoyed playing the slot machines at the casinos with her cousin, Carol. Diane never met a stranger, so to speak. Her dazzling smile was sure to light up any room.

An avid cat lover, Diane’s babies through the years included her cats and her beloved poodle, Bella.

She had been looking forward to visiting her brother in Texas in October along with the family reunion this summer, but regrettably, that now will not happen.

Besides her father, she is survived by three brothers, Angelo (Debbie) Zappie of Fredonia, Richard (Melanie) Woloszyn of Big Sandy, TX, and Daniel (Kim) Woloszyn Jr. of Fredonia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Zappie.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church. There will be no prior visitation. Entombment will be in the Columbarium of St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Church or St. Hedwig’s Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
