Daisy Torres, 74, of Dunkirk died Tuesday (July 12, 2022) at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Oct. 25, 1947 in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Carlos and Luisa (Robles) Ruiz.
A resident of Dunkirk for most of her life, Daisy was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
Survivors include four brothers, Carlos (Theresa) Ruiz and James (Shelly) Ruiz, both of Dunkirk, Edwin (Carmen) Ruiz of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Ricardo (Sandy) Ruiz of Orchard Park; eight sisters, Maria (John) Kushel and Mildred (Israel) Ruiz, both of Dunkirk, Elizabeth (JoAnn) Ruiz of Fredonia, Maria Ruiz, Minerva (Hector) Rivera, and Doris (Angel) Aviles, all of Palmetto, Fla., Wilda (Luis) DeJesus of Sun City Fla, and Evelyn (Robert) Ruiz of Port Richey, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
A special recognition to Luz Torres, Rosa Alverio (best friend), Hospice care providers, (Tammy, Jennifer, Phil and Michelle).
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carmelo Torres who died in Nov. 15, 2020; two brothers, Joe Ruiz and Deacon Jose Ruiz; and two sisters, Margarita Navarro and Aida Luisa Ruiz.
Calling hours will be held TODAY from 4-7 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 15, at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
