Cynthia Ann Brunecz

Cynthia Ann ”Cindy” Brunecz, 84, of Fredonia, died peacefully at home of natural causes on Saturday morning, Nov. 26, 2022.

She was born April 6, 1938, in Panama, N.Y., the daughter of the late Milo T. and Alice (Bohall) Sard.

A lifelong resident of Chautauqua County, Cynthia Ann was a graduate of Panama High School, class of 1956. She attended SUNY Fredonia with a music scholarship. However, prior to graduating and on Aug. 22, 1959, she married her husband of 63 years, Michael E. Brunecz; they were the love of each other’s lives.

In Cynthia’s early years as a wife and mother, she was the perfect stay at home mom. As her children grew older and became more independent, she joined her husband and was an integral partner with operating their business, Office Concepts in Dunkirk, N.Y.

Cynthia was a talented musician who loved playing the piano and had perfect pitch. She also was an avid reader and golfer, and was a member of Shorewood Country Club for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Mike; seven children: Christopher (Cheryl) Brunecz of Fredonia, Tracey Brunecz of Westfield, Daniel Brunecz of Fredonia, Jane (Joseph) Szpak of Saratoga Springs, Jonathan Brunecz of Broomfield, Colo., David Brunecz of Dunkirk, and Jennifer (Scott Ogden) Brunecz of Broomfield, Colo.; one sister, Patricia Dole of Panama; seven grandchildren along with two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons: Michael “Mickey” Brunecz and Timothy Brunecz; her infant daughter, Kimberly Brunecz; three brothers: Allen, William and Michael Sard; and one sister, Jacquelyn Swanson.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Any memorials may be made in Cynthia’s honor and memory to the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation, 212 Lake Shore Drive, West, Dunkirk, NY 14048.

Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
